This group includes weekly consultation by a personal trainer/karate instructor, in addition to qualified occupational and physical therapists. The group emphasizes strengthening and endurance, bilateral motor coordination, sequencing, social interaction, and praxis (which refers to the ability to conceptualize, motor plan and execute unfamiliar motor tasks). Children who have difficulties in these areas often face obstacles performing gross and fine motor tasks at school, home, and in their community.
Group sizes range from 4-7 children. We offer different levels of groups from beginners, in which the child may need more hands-on help, to advanced, in which the children are independent and participate in more advanced motor activities.
This year-round group run by an occupational therapist focuses on improving self-regulation, which is the ability to attain, maintain, and change arousal/alertness so that it is appropriate for a task or situation. Many techniques and strategies are adapted from The Alert Program® for Self-Regulation as well as the Zones of Regulation®. In addition to promoting self-regulation, various therapeutic activities are utilized to incorporate strength and endurance, bilateral motor coordination and praxis (which refers to the ability to conceptualize, motor plan and execute unfamiliar motor tasks). During this group, children have the opportunity for social interaction and leadership roles.
Group sizes range from 4-7 children. We offer different levels of this group depending upon the child’s specific needs.
This group is run by occupational and physical therapists. This group focuses on boosting strength, heart health, balance, and core stability through fun child-focused exercises with licensed therapists. Education on proper breathing techniques, stretching and basic yoga is also incorporated within the group. In addition to addressing strengthening and endurance, the group promotes social interaction among peers.
Group sizes range from 4-7 children. Different levels of this group are offered depending upon the child’s needs and skill level.
This group will help your child stretch, move, and dance to music. Under the guidance of a licensed occupational therapist and dance instructors, your child will be guided through a fun, energetic easy movement experiences while learning basic body positions and simple dance steps. Periodically, this group includes a short dance program presented to family and friends. Group size ranges from 4-7 children.
The focus of these groups varies depending upon the child’s specific needs and goals, such as functional living skills, social skills, pre-vocational skills, community living skills strengthening, motor planning, coordination, handwriting (printing & cursive), etc. Each group is designed to meet the specific needs of the participants. Group size ranges from 2-5 children; divided into age appropriate groups (ages 5 through teenage years).
